Chilli Chicken Recipe – Easy Making Guide from Crispyfoodidea

India is famous for Street Chinese food. So, today I am writing about one most famous Indian Chinese Food Recipe called “Chili Chicken”. Because I know we are crazy about Indian Street Food. When you go somewhere and feel hungry, then these street foods are the only way to relieve you. We know all foods are made in Palm oil which is injurious to health. So if you try Fried rice and Chili Chicken, it is comparable low injurious and also has low Palm oil.

You can also try to make it at home because on the dinner plate Chili Chicken with Tandoori roti is famous. If you are a Desi-Chaines lover, then you don’t forget Chili Chicken. It can be used as a party starter if you make it dry, but many of us also prefer it as a gravy which tastes best when it serves with Fried Noodles. So start the Chilli Chicken Recipe.

Two types of Chili Chicken are famous, 1. Dry Chili Chicken, 2. Gravy Chili Chicken

Chili Chicken Recipe Step by Step

We divide the ingredients list into two parts like one is for the batter part, and the second is the stir fry part.

For batter part of Chili Chicken:

  • Oil
  • Boneless Chicken – 500 grams (3/4 inch pieces)
  • Corn flour – approx 3 tbsp
  • Ginger Garlic Paste – ½ tbsp
  • Soy Sauce – 1 tbsp
  • Chili Sauce – 1 tbsp
  • Chili Powder – ½ tbsp
  • Pepper Powder – ½ tbsp
  • Egg – 1 Pcs
  • Salt – 1 or 2 pinch

For the stir fry part of Chili Chicken:

  • 1½ tbsp Oil
  • 4 pieces Green chili
  • 1 tbsp Ginger chopped
  • 1½ tbsp Garlic chopped
  • 2 tbsp Spring Onion chopped
  • 3 pieces Onion chopped
  • 1 piece Capsicum cut into cubed
  • 1 piece Red Bell Pepper cut into cubed
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Sauce/ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Soya sauce
  • 2 tbsp Red Chili Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar
  • Salt as per test

Make sure all the ingredients are ready before starting the cooking. It is best if you keep each of it in a separate small bowl. These all ingredients are easily available in every grocery shop and vegetables are available in the vegetable shop. So quick make it all ready. After that, we will jump on to the cooking part of it.

Preparation of Chili Chicken

Take all the chicken and cut into ¾ inch pcs carefully with the help of a knife. Then wash it with fresh water. It is possible to wash it once after the warm water. It help to clean all germs on the chicken pieces. Then take a large bowl, it is better to take a big glass bowl or anything you want. Now mix the chicken with ginger garlic paste, oil and cornflour gently. Notice all those are mixed well. Don’t forget to mix salt with it. Thereafter add Soya Sauce, Chili sauce, Chili Powder, pepper powder and egg also. Mix them well and set it aside for marinating up to 15 minutes. It is better if you put it marinate for about 1 hour.

Chicken breast for Chili Chicken

Take a pan, pour some oil on it and let it deep heat or high heat. Keep your eyes on it, when the oil is hot enough to start adding the pieces of chicken one by one and deep fry for 5-8 minutes until its color becomes golden brown. Thereafter take the chicken pieces out from the pan. You can use some tissue paper to absorb the extra oil from it and set it aside in a bowl.

Let the chicken fry pieces normal in temperature.

In this meanwhile, quickly make the Gravy of Chili Chicken, if you prefer gravy.

Again take a bowl for gravy and whisk all the ingredients of gravy-like Soya Sauce, Chili Sauce, Tomato Sauce, chili powder, black pepper powder and also vinegar. Then add two teaspoon water with it and mix well.

Spices for chili chicken gravy or sauce

Then place the Pan on oven top and heat some oil. Put chopped green chilies, chopped ginger and chopped garlic to stir well then add onions or cubed onion and fry it well up to brownish color. Add spring onion with it and stir once.

After the add spring onion doesn’t take a long time above a minute to cook, quickly add the fried chicken and capsicum also.

Decrease the flame of the oven in low and toss all the mixture well up to 2-3 minutes.

Add the gravy you have already make prepare before it with 2-3 tablespoon of water and toss everything very well. Notice that there is a good coat the chicken with sauce and look very nice.

Ingredients
  

For Chicken Pakora

  • 500 grams Chicken Boneless (¾ inch pieces)
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 3 tbsp Cornflour
  • tbsp Ginger-Garlic pest
  • 1 tbsp Soya sauce
  • ½ tbsp Chili sauce
  • 1 or 2 pinch Salt
  • tbsp Black Pepper powder
  • tbsp Red chili powder
  • 1 nos Egg

For Grevy

  • tbsp Oil
  • 4 pieces Green chili
  • 1 tbsp Ginger chopped
  • tbsp Garlic chopped
  • 2 tbsp Spring Onion chopped
  • 3 pieces Onion chopped
  • 1 piece Capsicum cut into cubed
  • 1 piece Red Bell Pepper cut into cubed
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Sauce/ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Soya sauce
  • 2 tbsp Red Chili Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar
  • 2 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Cornflour
  • Salt as per test

Instructions
 

Make Chicken Pakora

  • In a bowl take the chicken slices.
  • Add1 tbsp of oil, 1/3 tbsp of ginger-garlic pest, 1 tbsp of soya sauce, 1/2 tbsp of chili sauce, 3 tbsp of cornflour, 2 pinches of salt, 1/3 tbsp of black pepper powder, 1/3 tbsp of red chili powder and 1 egg. Mix well and make a coat on chicken.
  • Let it marinate for about 30 minutes.
  • Heat a pan with oil. Put all the chicken pieces one by one in the oil and let them fry.
  • When you see the chicken pieces have become golden brown, put out from the pan.

Make Chili Chicken

  • Again heat a pan with oil.
  • Put chopped garlic and fry a little. In this case, ginger is optional.
  • Put the gas on high flame. Add chopped onions, capsicums, and bell pepper. Also, add green chilies at that time.
  • Then add 2 tbsp of tomato sauce, 2 tbsp of soya sauce and 2 tbsp of red chili sauce. Mix-up with the onions and peppers well.
  • You can add the chicken now if you want Dry Chili chicken. If you want chili chicken gravy, then skip this step.
  • Add 2 cups of water and stir a little. Also, add 1 tbsp of vinegar at that time. Keep them boil for a minute.
  • In this meantime take a bowl and mix 1 tbsp of cornflour along with 1/2 cup of water.
  • When you notice the water just start boiling, add the only 1 tbsp of cornflower water and stir. After 30-40 seconds again add 1 tbsp of cornflower water and stir continuously. (This step helps the gravy make thicker)
  • When you fill the gravy became perfectly thicker, add salt as per taste and sugar also (optional).
  • Now add the fried chickens and stir for a minute. Then add the chopped spring onion, mix a little and turn off the gas.
  • Serve Hot with Fried rice or Roti (Flatbread).
