8. 4th of July Red, White, and Blue Muddy Buddy Snack Mix

4th of July Red, White, and Blue Muddy Buddy Snack Mix

15-minute Chex Mix Muddy Buddies with a holiday flair for the 4th of July! The most delicious and addicting snack ever! Do you call them Muddy Buddies or Puppy Chow? The internet is divided. And I always spend way too much time deciding what I should label them. I went with Muddy Buddies! I’ve seen these made with peanut butter and other nut butter, but I omitted that for these Red, White, and Blue Muddy Buddies. Milk chocolate is also more popular to use than white chocolate, but I didn’t want even a speck of brown poking through – because Red, White, Blue, and Brown Muddy Buddies? Nope! Plus, I love white chocolate.

French Onion Tartlets

Stop the presses. These French Onion Tartlets are three appetizers for any of your party needs. Whether it’s for holiday gatherings or dinner parties or extravagant soirees or even weddings, these poppable savory bites are perfect for all occasions. These savory mini tarts couldn’t be simpler, thanks to Athens Foods’ flaky, buttery mini fillo shells that are already made and baked and ready to fill. The hardest part is having the patience to let the onions for the filling caramelize to the nth degree, and trust me, they need to — it’s what makes these tarts sing (metaphorically). Plus, your kitchen will smell amazing. Your clothes maybe not be so much, and people may question your hygiene, but you can just give them one of these tartlets and they’ll forgive all your ills.

3. Jalapeno Corn Dip

Jalapeno Corn Dip

This Jalapeno Corn Dip takes minutes to make! Sweet corn, peppers, jalapenos, and cheese – don’t forget the corn chips! I made a couple of different variations, experimenting with the base ingredients. The first one I tried had mayonnaise in it, and I decided on my next try to leave that out and go with cream cheese. It’s always nice when you are leaving a dip out at room temperature not to have to worry about mayonnaise.  I also adjusted the level of heat, which comes from the jalapeño and cayenne pepper.

I tried using different cheeses, like cheddar and Monterey Jack, and a combo of both. The sweetness of the corn with the spice from the jalapeño is super good together. The creaminess of the cheeses mellows out the heat and lets the flavor of the jalapeño come through.

2. Patriotic Deviled Eggs

Patriotic Deviled Eggs

Patriotic Deviled Eggs – CRAZY good deviled eggs. Eggs, mayonnaise, vinegar, salt, dry mustard, pepper, onion, and paprika. Dye the hard-boiled eggs red and blue for a fun patriotic snack! Aren’t these Red, White, and Blue Deviled eggs cute?! I saw a few blog posts around Easter about dyed hard-boiled eggs. I thought they were so cute so I decided to give them a try for the 4th of July. They looked and tasted great! These deviled eggs would be a great addition to your holiday BBQ next week.

The dying process is very simple and doesn’t require any vinegar. It requires only three ingredients – peeled hard-boiled eggs, water, and food coloring. I let the eggs sit in the dye for about 2 hours and then sliced them for deviled eggs. They had a great ring of color around the edge of the egg. I thought they looked great! The possibilities are endless!
